German A1.2 Tutorial

The A1 level of the German language course is designed for beginners, introducing students to the fundamentals of the language. The course is divided into two parts: A1.1 and A1.2

 

A1.2 Course Overview

Lesson 1: Dative Case, Local Prepositions, Places in a City

  • Introduction to the Dative Case for Indirect Objects.
  • Learn local prepositions to describe locations (e.g., in, auf, neben).
  • Vocabulary: common places in a city (e.g., Bahnhof, Park, Supermarkt).

Lesson 2: Possessive Articles, Inside a House, Apartment Ads

  • Master possessive articles (mein, dein, sein, etc.) for expressing ownership.
  • Vocabulary related to household objects and rooms (e.g., Küche, Schlafzimmer).
  • Learn how to understand and respond to apartment ads.

Lesson 3: Time Prepositions, Hotel Facilities, Appointments

  • Study time prepositions (e.g., am, im, um) for setting appointments.
  • Vocabulary: hotel-related words (e.g., Rezeption, Zimmer, Frühstück).
  • Practice making appointments and discussing schedules.

Lesson 4: Personal Pronouns, Conjunctions, Dative Verbs

  • Review and practice personal pronouns in various cases.
  • Introduction to conjunctions (und, aber, weil) for connecting ideas.
  • Learn verbs that require the Dative Case (e.g., helfen, danken).

Lesson 5: Prepositions, Ordinal Numbers, Modal Verb “wollen”

  • Study the correct usage of common prepositions (e.g., in, auf, an).
  • Use ordinal numbers to describe sequences (e.g., erster, zweiter).
  • Modal verb “wollen” (to want) for expressing desires and intentions.

Lesson 6: Formal Imperative, Body Parts / Health, Modal Verb “sollen”

  • Learn the formal imperative for giving commands or instructions.
  • Vocabulary: body parts and health-related words (e.g., Kopf, Arzt).
  • Modal verb “sollen” (should) for advice or obligations.

Lesson 7: Past Participles without “ge-“, Verbs with Two Objects, Discuss Appearance

  • Learn past participles that don’t follow the “ge-” prefix rule.
  • Study verbs that take two objects (e.g., schenken, geben).
  • Vocabulary and phrases for describing physical appearance.

Lesson 8: Personal Pronouns Plural, Informal Imperative, Housework

  • Practice using personal pronouns in the plural form.
  • Learn the informal imperative for giving instructions casually.
  • Vocabulary: common housework tasks (e.g., putzen, kochen).

Lesson 9: Subordinate Clauses, Conjunction “weil,” Modal Verbs

  • Introduction to subordinate clauses for complex sentence structures.
  • Use the conjunction “weil” (because) to explain reasons.
  • Continue working with modal verbs in different contexts.

Lesson 10: Comparative, Superlative, Konjunktiv II Basics

  • Learn how to form and use comparative (e.g., größer, schöner) and superlative (e.g., am größten) forms.
  • Introduction to Konjunktiv II for expressing hypothetical situations.
